IOWA CITY, Ia. — Iowa may have lost to Wisconsin on Saturday. But on Sunday, the Hawkeyes beat the Badgers for a fast-rising recruit in the Midwest.

Josiah Miamen, a three-star tight end from Dunlap, Illinois, announced his commitment to Iowa on Sunday night. His finalist schools had been Iowa and Wisconsin.

"On my official (visit), everything just felt right," Miamen told the Des Moines Register. "I really got along with the coaches and players, and the importance of the (tight end) in their offense was huge as well in making my decision."

247Sports gives Miamen (6-foot-4, 225 pounds) three stars and ranks him the No. 36 tight end in the 2019 recruiting class. Rivals also gives him three stars and ranks him the No. 26 prospect in the class from Illinois. He also held offers from Penn State, Illinois, Northwestern, Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame, among others.

Iowa wanted one more tight end to pair with Orion product Logan Lee. It identified Miamen as its top prospect and hosted him for an official visit two weeks ago.

Miamen becomes Iowa's 15th verbal recruit for the 2019 class.
