Apparently, Jestin Jacobs doesn't need to wait until his June 22 official visit to know he wants to become a Hawkeye.

Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz celebrates a touchdown with center James Daniels at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, in Iowa City.

A three-star linebacker out of Clayton, Ohio, Jacobs committed to Iowa on Friday via a tweet. He becomes Kirk Ferentz's eighth pledge for the 2019 class.

The 247Sports Composite gives Jacobs, at 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, three stars and ranks him the No. 32 outside linebacker in the class. Rivals also gives Jacobs three stars and ranks him the class' No. 18 outside linebacker.

Jacobs picked Iowa over Purdue, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kentucky and Northwestern — the other six schools in the top seven he announced on May 1. He had two official visits scheduled: one to Iowa on June 22 and one to Northwestern on June 15.

A prospect on the rise in the Midwest, Jacobs recently impressed at Nike's The Opening regional in Canton, Ohio, and will likely see a decent jump in the position rankings before all is said and done.

He recorded 74 tackles, 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception this past season, according to his Hudl.

Jacobs joins in-state linemen Tyler Endres (Norwalk), Ezra Miller (Ridge View) and Noah Fenske (New Hampton), as well as Cedar Falls linebacker Jack Campbell, Orion (Illinois) tight end Logan Lee, Oak Lawn (Illinois) safety Sebastian Castro and Kansas City receiver Desmond Hutson as the program's current 2019 recruiting class.

With Jacobs' commitment, Iowa's 2019 class now ranks 24th in the country and sixth in the Big Ten, according to the 247Sports Composite.
