The Iowa basketball coaching staff was glued to D.J. Carton throughout April's live period.

It appears to have paid off.

D.J. Carton pays attention during a timeout last weekend at the NY2LA Spring Extravaganza in Minnetonka, Minnesota.

The Bettendorf star, who is the nation's No. 33 player in the 2019 class, according to 247Sports.com, listed Iowa, Xavier, Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan and Marquette as his top six in a tweet Thursday night.

Carton is arguably Iowa's top target for the 2019 class, which currently includes Iowa City West star Patrick McCaffery as a commitment. Carton plays a position of need — point guard — and the 6-foot-1, 180-pounder's game should translate into him being a two-impact player at the high-major level.
