A hamstring injury kept Iowa's James Daniels from participating in the 40-yard dash.

But it didn't keep Daniels from impressing during on-field drills.

That's when the Iowa star really worked his magic with a strong showing during the NFL Scouting Combine on Friday in Indianapolis.

James Daniels has 24 career starts for Iowa, most of them at center, and has played in 35 games in a three-year career.

"I know he didn't run today, but man, he's one of the cleanest players when you watch," said NFL Network analyst Shaun O'Hara, who played offensive line in the league for a decade. "He can do everything."

Daniels, a three-year starter for the Hawkeyes, suffered a strained hamstring that kept him out of the 40. But it didn't stop the star from showing off his skills during drills.

NFL Network analysts raved about his run through them and even noted that he's still 20 years old.

He was so good during the mirror drills, an exercise that tests footwork and hand placement, that the NFL Network's lead draft expert Mark Mayock called it "textbook" and told producers to hold onto the film.

Mayock credited the Iowa coaching staff for having offensive linemen like Daniels ready for the NFL.

"You know what you're getting with an Iowa offensive lineman," Mayock said.

Daniels' day went so well that O'Hara thought he helped his cause with the NFL Draft.

"I thought James Daniels was phenomenal in the drills and really helped his stock out," O'Hara said. "He's a young kid so I think he's got a lot of room for improvement."
