Iowa senior linebacker Josey Jewell landed on two more "watch lists" for major college football awards Monday.

Jewell was one of 42 college linebackers being monitored by the Butkus Award. He is the only returning finalist from last season on the list. Last year, Reuben Foster of Alabama claimed the prize. Semifinalists for the award will be named Oct. 30.

Also Monday, Jewell was named to the "watch list" for the Wuerffel Trophy that goes to the FBS player that best combines exemplary community service with academic achievement.

Jewell (6-foot-2, 236 pounds), a native of Decorah, started all 13 games at middle linebacker last year, leading the Hawkeyes with 124 tackles to rank second in the Big Ten Conference. He was named Iowa’s Most Valuable Player on defense and was named second team All-Big Ten by the Associated Press and Big Ten coaches and media. Jewell was also named to the 2017 Bednarik Watch List on July 10 and Bronko Nagurski Watch List on July 13.

Semifinalists for the Wuerffel Trophy will be announced Nov. 2.
