The 2018 commitment Iowa added late Sunday night is exactly the type of prospect offensive line coach Tim Polasek promised to find when he joined the staff in February.

A developing lineman from rural Wisconsin with a 6-foot-6, 260-pound frame, Cody Ince chose the Hawkeyes over Minnesota, Maryland, Virginia and a pack of mid-major and FCS programs.

Tim Polasek works with players during practice on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.

Polasek found the small-school star in his recruiting territory and old stomping grounds this spring. Ince is considered a three-star prospect at offensive tackle.

“After giving it a lot of thought, weighing out all of the options, and processing all of the generous offers, I am excited to announce that I am 100 percent committed to continuing my academic and athletic career as an Iowa Hawkeye!” Ince posted on Twitter just before midnight Monday.

Ince played offensive tackle and defensive end for Balsam Lake Unity as a junior, picking up all-conference honors on the defensive line for his work in Division 6, which is Wisconsin’s second-smallest classification.

He held just three Division I scholarship offers in April, but the recruiting list grew steadily over the last two months. Multiple outlets reported Ince receiving his Iowa offer on May 17, and an unofficial visit to Iowa City last week apparently sealed his verbal commitment.

Ince is the eighth commitment for Iowa’s 2018 class. He is also the second offensive lineman and second Wisconsin prep to pledge to the Hawkeyes.
