After ending a productive spring with Friday’s game under the lights, the Iowa football program landed another piece for the future.

Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz walks off the field with his players after their Spring Game on Friday, April 21, 2017, in Iowa City.

Ezra Miller, a 6-foot-6, 280-pound sophomore offensive lineman, announced his Iowa commitment via Twitter on Saturday afternoon, becoming the first member of the Hawkeyes’ 2019 class.

“I am extremely excited and honored to announce that I am committing to the University of Iowa!!!” Miller tweeted at 1:15 p.m. “Go hawks! #Swarm2019”

Miller is from Ridge View High School in Holstein, Ia., and rates as a four-star prospect, according to 247Sports. For the 2019 class, the site ranks Miller as the nation’s No. 84 player, the ninth-best offensive tackle and the top prospect in Iowa.

The Hawkeyes offered Miller at junior day March 5 and landed him over Iowa State, which offered the offensive lineman April 8. Miller racked up first-team all-district honors last season for the Raptors.
