IOWA CITY, Ia. — Iowa City West junior linebacker Dillon Doyle has committed to Iowa, he announced via Twitter Monday night.

"It has always been a dream of mind to put on the black and gold and play for Coach Ferentz," he wrote.

West High's Dillon Doyle celebrates his touchdown in the final minutes of the Trojans' game against Cedar Rapids Prairie in Cedar Rapids on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016.

The Hawkeyes offered Doyle at their junior day in early March. He also held offers from Central Florida, South Dakota and Northern Illinois.

247Sports.com gives the 6-foot-3, 215-pound junior three stars and pegs him as the fourth-best 2018 outside linebacker in the state.

Doyle is the son of Chris Doyle, Iowa's strength and conditioning coach.

He recorded 54 tackles and an interception as a focal point of West's Class 4A state runner-up defense this season. He also played some wide receiver/tight end for the Trojans, catching 12 passes for 152 yards and three touchdowns.

Doyle is Iowa's third commit in the Class of 2018. Three-star offensive guard Jeff Jenkins of Crystal Lake, Ill., committed in late January, and three-star linebacker Mike Bruner of Thiensville, Wisc., committed in October.
