Ken O'Keefe making $540K as Hawkeyes quarterbacks coach
IOWA CITY, Ia. — Ken O'Keefe will be paid $540,000 annually in his new role as quarterbacks coach for the Iowa football team.
The salary was included in an offer letter to O'Keefe from head coach Kirk Ferentz that was provided to the Des Moines Register after a Freedom of Information Act request. O'Keefe's contract, which hasn't yet been finalized, will run for three years.
O'Keefe was hired Feb. 2 to re-join Ferentz's staff at Iowa. He previously served as offensive coordinator from 1999-2011 before accepting a job as wide receivers coach for the Miami Dolphins, where he spent the past five seasons.
O'Keefe returned to Iowa City after Hawkeyes offensive coordinator Greg Davis retired last month. Davis also served as quarterbacks coach.
Kirk Ferentz turned over the offensive coordinator duties to his son, Brian, who had been the offensive line coach. Brian Ferentz also does not have a new contract and continues to be paid his salary of $425,000 per year, university officials told the Register.
