Iowa City West's Oliver Martin breaks away from a Cedar Rapids Washington defender Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, during their 4A state semifinal game at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.

IOWA CITY, Ia. — Iowa City West receiver Oliver Martin was set to take an official visit to Ohio State on Saturday, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told Hawk Central Friday night.

But, in accordance with Martin's unusual recruitment, those plans changed. Martin had to cancel the visit because of issues coordinating a flight on such short notice, 247Sports reported.

The source said the Buckeyes' in-home visit Thursday went well. Ohio State moved quickly to at least get the official scheduled; as of Friday morning, Martin had no plans for visits this weekend.

Ohio State was one of seven schools to visit Martin last week. The other six: UCLA, Auburn, Florida, Notre Dame, Iowa and Michigan.

The Buckeyes, Bruins and Gators all flocked to Martin after his U.S. Army All-American Bowl week. While Martin was overthrown on his one target during the Jan. 7 game, he consistently ranked among the top performers at practices leading up to the game.

Martin took an official visit to Michigan State last weekend. Athletes are granted five official recruiting visits. Having already taken official visits to Iowa and Notre Dame, Martin will have two remaining after this weekend, but only one weekend remaining until Signing Day on Feb. 1.

He visited Michigan State with his close friend Rocky Lombardi, the West Des Moines Valley quarterback who previously committed to the Spartans.

Martin leaves Iowa City West as the state's all-time receptions leader (239) and Class 4A's all-time leader in receiving yards (3,449) and receiving touchdowns (33). Martin led Iowa prep football this year with 1,272 receiving yards on 85 catches. He caught 14 touchdowns and scored on a punt return and a kick return.
