Reports: Iowa to play Notre Dame in Big 10/ACC challenge

Iowa will play at Notre Dame in next season’s Big 10/ACC men’s basketball challenge, according to a CBSsports.com report Monday afternoon.

The Hawkeyes beat Florida State 78-75 in overtime at last year’s event.

Notre Dame lost to North Carolina 88-74 in the Elite 8 of the 2016 NCAA Tournament.

The game will be a homecoming of sorts for Fran McCaffery, who was an assistant coach at Notre Dame in 1988-89.

The matchup adds to an already packed schedule for the Hawkeyes.

Iowa will play Seton Hall in Gavitt Games at home, Virginia in the Florida tourney, Iowa State, Notre Dame, and UNI next season.

Virginia, Notre Dame and Iowa State all made the Sweet 16 this year.
