Iowa women throttle past Northwestern
EVANSTON, Ill. — Five Hawkeyes scored in double figures as the Iowa women’s basketball team routed Northwestern 79-64 on Sunday.
Iowa (15-7, 5-5 Big Ten) took a 36-33 halftime lead over the Wildcats. And even though there were seven occasions where the score was tied, the Hawkeyes always remained out in front. Iowa limited Northwestern (13-9, 2-8) to almost 35 percent shooting from the floor in the game, while the Hawkeyes shot better than 50 percent in both halves.
Chase Coley led Iowa with a team-high 19 points off 8-of-10 shooting. Ally Disterhoft recorded 18 points, Megan Gustafson chipped in with 15 and Tania Davis as well as Whitney Jennings added 11 of their own.
Iowa will travel to Indiana for a 6 p.m. game on Thursday. The Hoosiers are 9-0 at home so far this season.
